Ekphrasis is the response to a question:
What if we talked about everything around the work, and nothing about the work itself?
What if we left the center blank, and instead explored the edges?
In a modest, wood scented shop in Brunswick East, 56 year old Matthew Miles quietly crafts a life that balances between utility and abstraction.
Known for his famous furniture and more recently, his evocative paintings, Miles is not just an artist or a craftsman, he is a thoughtful explorer of what it means to create in a world increasingly defined by fast consumption.
